The
Center for Transportation Studies now offers a campuswide graduate
certificate program in Transportation. An equitable and efficient transportation system that safely moves people and goods is critical to healthy, livable communities. A carefully planned, designed, maintained and continually improved system significantly influences the well-being of every citizen, preserves natural resources, and enhances economic productivity. Increasingly, transportation professionals need multi-disciplinary knowledge and skills to anticipate social, environmental, and technological trends and incorporate them into intelligently-integrated transportation systems. The Portland State University Graduate Certificate in Transportation offers graduate education for those seeking to build upon their undergraduate training and expand their capabilities in the field. Students in the program can choose among a wide range of relevant courses in transportation planning and engineering to develop their analytical, practical, and problem-solving skills. Who? The Certificate is designed for established transportation professionals who want to build their skills, and also for those seeking to build technical and analytical knowledge to enter the fascinating and multidisciplinary field of transportation. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum 2.75 GPA. Backgrounds may include planning, civil & environmental engineering, business administration, geography, mathematics, statistics, economics, political science, computer science, and other liberal arts and sciences majors. Requirements The Graduate Certificate in Transportation is a 21-credit-hour program. You can complete it in one year on a full-time basis, or over two years on a part-time basis. The Certificate includes courses from the Nohad A. Toulan School of Urban Studies and Planning (USP) and the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering (CE) in the Maseeh College of Engineering and Computer Science.
